For Dr Oussama Rachid, obstetrics and gynaecology is a rich and fascinating specialty that accompanies women at every stage of life. His way of caring rests on listening and patience, clear explanations and an attentive presence. This page sums up his principles; it is informational and does not replace a consultation.

A consultation begins with listening. Dr Rachid usually allows thirty minutes or more, to leave room for your questions, your story and what concerns you, without rushing you.
For him, a good consultation is above all one where things are explained: all the possible options are presented to you, with their benefits and limits. And above all, it is about staying compassionate and human, whatever the situation.
How decisions are made depends on the clinical situation. Depending on the case, the doctor gives firm advice, indicates a course of action that is necessary or shares the decision with you. In every case he explains his reasons.
No procedure is carried out without a clear indication, and every step is well explained before it is done. A second opinion is gladly accepted.
Dr Rachid favours a birth that is as natural as possible:
For contraception, all methods can be considered, according to the patient; an IUD in a woman without children is decided after discussion. For menopausal hormone therapy, prudence prevails, case by case. Screening follows national recommendations, and the management of a fibroid depends on the patient's age and plans. Adolescents are welcome.
When conceiving is difficult, the couple's work-up is carried out in parallel and psychological support is part of the consultation.
In surgery, the decision to operate and the surgical approach depend on the indication, explained at consultation. Hysteroscopy is performed in the operating theatre.
As for any procedure, nothing is done without a clear indication, the procedure is well explained before it is carried out, and a second opinion is gladly accepted.
An aesthetic request can be studied when it is considered, under the same principles: a consultation first, a clear indication, full explanations.
Fees are given to you before the consultation and a report is always given to you. Simple questions can be asked by message; personalised medical advice requires a consultation. You may ask for a third person to be present during the examination.
Your beliefs and your situation are respected, without judgement. If you are experiencing violence, you will be listened to and referred.
